Hey friends, Chris (partner), River (dog), and I (Mary) have some big news to share.
A while ago Chris (who is from England but has been in Australia the last few years), was contacted by a big company in his industry. They asked him to apply for a fantastic job with them, based in the UK. It was a pretty huge deal, and we weren’t sure what to make of it. We talked it over together and freaked out a bit (a lot.) We decided to go for it – for Chris to apply for the job and us to seriously think about moving to England if given the opportunity.
After a whole bunch of stressful interviews and not knowing what we were doing with our lives for several months, with me becoming progressively more attached to the idea of living amongst deer, squirrels and rolling green hills, Chris was offered the job!
We are super excited, scared and grateful for this incredible adventure. It has been a dream of mine for a while to have the chance to live in another part of the world, and the UK was top of my list.
We’re moving early June 2016, but I will be returning to Perth in October 2016, and still have plenty of spots available in November 2016, and February/March 2017 for Perth and Australia wide weddings. I will keep coming back to Australia frequently for friends, family and to photograph lovely people gettin’ married.
So from June 2016 onwards I am available for weddings in the UK, Ireland, and pretty much anywhere. I’m feeling super lucky and a little bewildered that I’ll get to call 2 such incredible places home, and I am so happy to have the chance to frolick about the entire planet, shooting wherever anyone wants me (and wherever I want, really.) My ‘job’ is kind of ridiculously amazing.
Below are some photos shot on 35mm film on my last couple of trips to England. Hopefully you can see why I love it so much. The most lush greens, beautiful nature everywhere, magical old buildings, forests, perfect light, mist, DEER and squirrels. The last time I was in London, I got told off by police for photographing the back of the prime minister’s house because it was so pretty and covered in vines (worth it.) I was travelling alone at the time I took these, and I kept messaging Chris saying “can we please live here one day?”
Kind of crazy how things work out :)
Here’s to adventures.
